Nasushiobara: A popular tourist destination renowned for its breathtaking natural scenery that can be enjoyed year-round, and is easily accessible from Tokyo. Shiobara Onsen Yashio Lodge is a “Leave you be” hotel that is located in the mountains overlooking the scenery of Nasushiobara, where you can soak in your own time. The facility is characterized by the calm atmosphere created by the tasteful stonework throughout its entrance, lobby, garden, outdoor baths, and so on. Right in front of the main entrance hall is a hot water tank with its own natural spring water. The spring water quality is chloride, hydrogen carbonate, which beautifies the skin by exfoliating dead skin cells. Enjoy a relaxing soak in a hot spring bath, with free-flowing hot spring water!
There are many sightseeing spots that are easily accessible on foot from the hotel. Yupponosato, located about 6 minutes on foot from the hotel, is an interactive hot spring experience with one of the largest foot baths in Japan, using gushing hot spring water. The foot bath corridor, extending some 60 meters, allows for not only relaxation but a refreshing garden stroll. We are also just 3 minutes on foot from Myoun-ji Temple, where colorful peonies bloom in great profusion come May, and 10 minutes on foot from the historic limestone caves of Genzankutsu, where the Genji rivals of Minamoto no Yoritomo (the first shogun, 1147–1199) hid from his pursuing forces. Why not stop by and experience both beautiful scenery and fascinating history?
Driving for about 15 minutes will take you to the famous Momijidani Suspension Bridge, one of the largest suspension bridges on Honshu. Located beside Mori no Eki (“Forest Station”), at the gift shop and direct sales counter you can also purchase wild vegetables, farmed vegetables, fruits, and more, delivered straight from the growing area. In just 10 minutes by car, you can get to Hakonomori Play Park, where the whole family can enjoy themselves to their hearts’ content, with a barbecue area and an athletics square rich in natural scenery. And if you’re willing to go a bit further, a 20-minute drive away you can find Senbonmatsu Farm, a vast farm with the land area of 178 Tokyo Domes. We especially recommend the ice cream made from fresh-squeezed milk, or just the milk itself. Make our hotel your base of operations for your sightseeing trip to Nasushiobara!
