Irago Ocean Resort is a hot spring resort hotel situated on the tip of the Atsumi Peninsula. Standing on a hill surrounded by the blue ocean, all guest rooms here feature an ocean view. From the guest rooms on the Pacific Ocean side where you can see the sunrise, you’ll find views of the grand Katahama Jusan-ri Beach stretching for Jusan-ri (approximately 52 km), and Hiino Sekimon (Sunrise Stone Gate), a large boulder that has been eroded by the rough waves of the Pacific, forming a hole. In springtime you can view the rape flower field, which is the main venue for the Rape Flower Festival. Guest rooms facing Ise Bay where you can see the sunset offer views of the beautiful white sands of Koijigahama Beach, chosen as one of the 100 Best Beaches in Japan and one of the 100 Best Views of White Sand and Green Pines in Japan. The picturesque views encompass Kami Island, which is known as the setting for Yukio Mishima’s novel The Sound of Waves, and Cape Irago with its white lighthouse.
The natural hot springs in the large public bath are taken from the sodium calcium-chloride Irago Hot Spring. Thanks to their unique properties that keep you from cooling down too quickly, these springs are effective for sensitivity to cold, and the slightly alkalized springs are known for their skin beautifying properties. The outdoor baths located 100 meters above sea level deliver truly gorgeous views. Kick back and enjoy a romantic sunset in the hot springs with views of ocean and sky as far as the eye can see.
The hotel is also home to restaurants that offer dishes cooked with carefully selected ingredients. Enjoy a rich, varied menu at the Irago Bold Kitchen buffet restaurant, featuring a new rotisserie grill for various new dishes, including delicious chicken cooked at a low temperature to remove excess fat for a crispy, fragrant outside and juicy inside. Guests can also enjoy seasonal flavors such as vegetables from the Atsumi Peninsula and seafood from Mikawa Bay at the Tridente seaside restaurant, offering Japanese banquet and French course meals.
There is also an outdoor pool in the summer, a sea-themed kids’ park, and a pet house (pet sitting service) for guests who travel with their dogs. Enjoy a stroll along the ocean as you listen to the sound of the waves, pick fresh fruits grown in a bountiful natural environment (strawberries: from around January to April, melons: from around May to November), visit Atsumi Tahara to dig for clams, or take a cruise on the ferry or sightseeing ships. Make our hotel your base of operations for getting the most out of a trip to the Atsumi Peninsula!
