It takes 10 minutes to get from Miyazaki Airport to JR Miyazaki Station by train, and we are just a quick 5-minute walk from the station. That's the kind of convenience and comfort you can expect from ART HOTEL Miyazaki Sky Tower. Incredibly convenient for sightseeing or business, as it is very close to the prefectural and municipal government buildings. It’s even just 8 minutes on foot from Miyazaki’s largest entertainment district, Nishitachibana-dori (fondly dubbed Nishi-Tachi by the locals). This area is much beloved by local Miyazakians, boasting about 1,100 restaurants, cafés, and bars. The rich variety of the food is matched only by the liveliness and friendliness of the people.
You can also rent a car near the hotel, and go for a drive to do some sightseeing outside the city. Miyazaki Prefecture is blessed with beautiful blue oceans and green mountains, with no end of fantastic natural sights to see! Takachiho Gorge, for example, was formed by lava flow from Mt. Aso, and its gorgeous scenery has earned it a spot on Japan’s national natural monument register. Why not rent a boat and row down the gorge yourself to get an up-close view of the amazing cliffs, as well as Manai Falls, which was selected as one of the 100 Best Waterfalls in Japan? Another must-see sightseeing location is Aoshima Island, surrounded by weird rock formations that have been given the name “the Devil’s Washboard.” It’s a small island that you can walk to from the mainland, and in the summer time when the tide is out is very popular with families.
Miyazaki is one of the top agricultural producers in Japan. The prefecture is famous for not only its locally-grown beef and chicken, but also as a producer of mangoes and hyuganatsu citrus. Making the most of the bright, warm climate, we have one of the largest and best agricultural outputs in the country. And of course, that means that what you really must try in Miyazaki is our delicious food. Chicken namban with tartar sauce is a well-known Miyazaki delicacy, but there’s much more than that! About an hour’s drive southbound from our hotel is Nichinan, which boasts the largest haul of rod-caught skipjack tuna in all Japan. “Skipjack Aburiju” is a famous new lunch dish developed in Nichinan, where fresh skipjack tuna marinated in sauce is served as sashimi, which you can lightly roast on a small clay stove, or eat as ochazuke. You can also enjoy various local delicacies from around the prefecture at a number of restaurants near our hotel, located as it is near Miyazaki Station. Why not search out the place that’s just right for you as you enjoy a stroll around the city?
