Definitely one of the most majestic views in Japan. The Lake Kawaguchiko is the most accessible of the five lakes and reachable either by train or bus. You will find near its location a hot spring resort town with a wealth of touristy attractions.
We recommend you to come one night prior to your visit to the lake, so that you can wake up with sun rise and discover the magnificent Mount Fuji appearing in the horizon. The tallest mountain in Japan will be standing at the eastern end of the lake, reflecting proudly in the clear waters. Later in the day the clouds and haze might come to hide Fuji-san, especially during summer.
The scenery around the lake is particularly breathtaking around the first half of November where autumn colors paint poetic views. In mid-April, nature wears cherry blossom colors and invites the spectator to contemplate the beauty of the place.
If you are done taking pictures, why not ride one the paddle boats before heading for lunch. In the afternoon, rent a bike and go tour the neighborhood. There are numerous museums and a ropeway leading the mountain juxtaposing the lake. For those who are staying in this beautiful region for a longer time, they could enjoy some of the craziest rollercoasters in the world at Fuji Q amusement park.
