Yamashita Park

Pick a bench, have a seat and look towards the sea for a romantic view of Yokohama Bay Bridge and ships that criss cross the bay. There are also many points of interest, such as the statue of a “Girl Wearing Red Shoes” familiar to many from nursery rhyme, “Indian Water Tower” donated in 1937 by the Japan-India Association, “Guardian Angle of Water” given by the sister city in the United States, San Diego, and the like.
　This is also a notable spot for roses, with many roses blooming in competition during the spring and fall of each year. Three dimensional presentations of roses, including trailing roses and roses of standard finish are featured for the pleasure of visitors. Other than roses there are also flowers of various colors, which comprise a park with a beautiful harmony of flowers and fountains.
　A large passenger cruise ship “Hikawa-maru” of Nippon Yusen, known to have been boarded by that king of comedy Chaplin, is also moored here and the ship is also open for viewing on board. Art Deco style first class dining room, First Class Smoking Room and First-Class Staterooms, as well as exhibits that illustrate the history of Hikawa-maru are also available for viewing. The scenery of Yokohama Bay can be viewed from the Promenade Deck. Yamashitakoen Park is a place where visitors can thoroughly enjoy the atmosphere of “Port Yokohama”. This is an essential tourist spot for visitors of Yokohama.
