Relax while gazing at the pavilion’s beautiful reflection in the pond.
This scenic hidden spot by the water is perfect for getting some peace and quiet.
The area south of the path to Kasuga Taisha Shrine is known as Asajigahara Park, and its highlight is Ukimido, a pavilion that appears to be floating in Sagiike Pond. The hexagonal structure has a roof thatched with Japanese cypress bark and was originally built in 1916. The inside is also accessible via a bridge. The pavilion’s beautiful reflection in the water makes this a peaceful, picturesque location.
The pavilion also harmonizes perfectly with its natural surroundings, from cherry blossoms in spring to colorful leaves in fall. Nearby you can find the Marumadotei Pavilion, designated an Important Cultural Property, and the Kataoka Bairin plum grove. This secluded spot is a wonderful place to relax while gazing at the beautiful reflections.
