Kanazawa Station —A Contemporary Example of Traditional Beauty

See the symbol of the home to one of the world’s 14 most beautiful stations.

Featuring structural material made of Douglas fir, the spiral-shaped pillars and loosely curved roof latticework embody a delicate-yet-dignified style. The gate’s pillars stand 13.7 m tall, making this an obvious symbol of the city simply for its size.
Motenashi Dome (Welcome Dome), created with traditional crafts in mind, is connected to Tsuzumi-mon and features a more modern design. Representing dedicated hospitality, this dome was designed to resemble an umbrella under which visitors are invited to converge. Constructed from 3,019 glass panels, the Motenashi Dome plaza is an open area bathed in bright sunlight. Beneath the dome you’ll find an event space where a wide variety of entertainment events are held, and an Information Center.
Beautifully designed to evoke the feel of a castle town, Tsuzumi-mon also serves as the entrance to the Motenashi Dome, and a ventilation cover for the underground area below. Defined by both beauty and functionality, this unique sightseeing spot is the perfect welcome for anyone entering Kanazawa.
