Showa Kinen Park is a surprisingly vast park, opened to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the reign of Emperor Hirohito. The park covers a total of 180 hectares and is dotted with open lawns, Japanese gardens, pond for water birds and recreational areas. In the center of the park is the "open field for everyone", a huge playing field where all kind of activities can be enjoyed. The "Children's Forest" has giant trampolines and hammocks for family fun. The Rainbow Pool water park draws crowds escaping the heat in summer.
