Tokyo's famous fashion hub
Built-up center with department stores bars and restaurants
Home to Shinjuku Station, the busiest railway station in the world, the city ward of Shinjuku is also the administrative and commercial hub of Tokyo City. With more skyscrapers than any other part of Tokyo, Shinjuku is a bustling urban center, boasting everything from luxury department stores to narrow alleys lined with hole-in-the-wall bars and izakaya.
Once you arrive in Shinjuku, there is no shortage of things to see and do. Views from the top of the neighborhood’s Metropolitan Government Office rival even the Tokyo Skytree® and certainly beat it on price – entry is completely free. Or explore Shinjuku Golden Gai, a maze of alleyways where old Tokyo is still alive. A bit of aimless wandering here can lead you to little-known bars and eateries. Many well-known institutions also make their home here, including the flagship branch of Isetan Department Store, a great place for a bit of Tokyo shopping.
With its wealth of shopping centers, museums, restaurants, night clubs, and parks such as Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden, when it comes to things to do in Tokyo, you’re spoiled for choice in Shinjuku.
