This futuristic multistory museum presents Osaka's history

The Osaka Museum of History introduces visitors to the history of Osaka City over the ages. Housed in rather artistic building, the hands-on museum makes an excellent stop on any Osaka itinerary.

The Osaka Museum of History opened in 2003 and offers visitors the opportunity to learn about Osaka’s past. With exhibits that detail the city’s origins as the original capital of Japan – including a focus on the Naniwa Palace – this museum is a must-visit for Osaka sightseeing. The replica historical scenes and ancient collections are sure to interest even casual visitors.

Set over ten floors, visitors to this essential Osaka tourist attraction can take an elevator up to the top level and work their way down through history. The exhibits cover the age of the Naniwa Palace to the present day. With views of the Osaka Castle from the upper floors, you’ll not find a better place to experience the past and the present rolled into one.
The museum has designed two routes - the ‘Highlights Course’ and the ‘Complete Course’. Each route offers a full experience, but the latter allows history fans to spend a little more time getting into the detail of the exhibitions. With numerous exhibits to explore, the Osaka Museum of History is an ideal day-trip for everyone, from the history enthusiast to visiting families.
