The world's largest aquarium

The world's largest aquarium for an aquatic experience

Aquariums rarely come more impressive than Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan in Osaka City. This essential Osaka tourist attraction is one of the world's largest aquariums, and is officially the largest in western Japan.

The aquarium houses 620 different species in 15 huge tanks, which were designed to reflect the different environments of the Pacific Rim. The exhibits cover eight floors and feature a range of creatures, from graceful whale sharks to playful penguins. There are plenty of interactive exhibits to keep children entertained, including a shallow pool where you can touch various small sharks and rays. Osaka Aquarium also has the world's largest dome-shaped tank, where ringed seals can be seen. Walking through this unique structure is surely one of the most unforgettable things to do in Osaka during your vacation.

Feeding times for the animals are a must, as you can enjoy seeing the adorable sea otters, penguins, and sea lions clamoring for their meals. The aquarium offers two dozen shows during feeding times every day, allowing visitors to see the animals at their most active.
The aquarium is also part of a larger amusement complex, Tempozan Harbor Village.
