Originally developed as a series of small islands to defend Tokyo from sea attacks during the Edo period, Odaiba was later transformed into a single island for entertainment and commerce purposes. Today, Odaiba is one of Tokyo’s most popular tourist destinations with much to see and do.
Originally developed to be a ‘futuristic living and business district’, Odaiba later developed into an entertainment and tourist location, with many attractions that continue to draw thousands of local and visiting tourists each day.
There’s no shortage of things to do in Odaiba. With the Odaiba Statue of Liberty, Odaiba Marine Park, Odaiba Trick Eye Museum, and two shopping malls - Odaiba Aqua City and Odaiba Diver City - to name but a few of the attractions, you could spend days here and not see everything. Another feature of interest is Odaiba Rainbow Bridge, which is as architecturally impressive as it is beautiful. Shopping and entertainment go hand-in-hand here, yet the many green spaces also give the island a relaxing feel.
