A scenic location looking out on Mount Fuji

Sit back and enjoy the scenery at the brand new Nihondaira Yume Terrace

Nihondaira is hilly area with an elevation of 307 meters, and, with its direct view of Mount Fuji, is known for its scenic beauty. You can look out on the tranquil scenery of Suruga Bay, as well as enjoy a panoramic view of the Izu Peninsula and the Southern Alps. The night scenery with Mount Fuji as a backdrop has also been growing in popularity in recent years, and in 2016 it was recognized as a Japan Nighttime Scenery Heritage Site by the Yakei Convention & Visitors Bureau.
The observation facility Nihondaira Yume Terrace opened in 2018 and is already trending. The facility consists of an octagonal observation deck, a 1,200 square meter garden and an observation gallery that goes around a digital tower. Entry into the facility is free. With an exhibit explaining the history and culture of Nihondaira, a café and more, this facility is perfect for a short break in your trip.
The plum blossoms in Nihondaira Plum Orchard are at their most beautiful around February, and serve as a harbinger of the coming spring. On the road leading up to the summit, you can also enjoy an explosion of amazing cherry blossoms in full bloom! Taking the ropeway over to Mount Kuno, you can also make a visit to Kunozan Toshogu Shrine, a site associated with Tokugawa Ieyasu (the founder of the Tokugawa Shogunate, who unified Japan at the beginning of the 17th century) that is famous for its richly colored buildings. Not just a wonderful view of Mount Fuji, in Nihondaira you can enjoy the scenery of Japan’s four seasons, as well a walk back through time.
