The department store where an elegant shopping
It's founded in 1933, which was first to be designated the most important cultural asset as a department store architecture.
Nihonbashi is synonymous with a well composed shopping quarter.
Among establishments in the quarter is the Takashimaya Nihonbashi Store that was founded in 1933, which was first to be designated the most important cultural asset as a department store architecture.
The component of the external appearance that draws attention is the design of temple architecture that decorates the windows on the second floor. One step through the front gates into the building, visitors are then greeted by a space of the atrium with two levels which is lined with columns of marble. Fossils of ammonites can be found in the marbles that clad the walls. The elevators were built by Otis of the United States and installed at the center since the inception of the building and still continue to carry passengers in carriages of cages to this day. Important cultural assets that still remain dotted throughout the premises can be observed by taking a tour that is conducted once each month.
The basement of the building is a typical “Department basement” where an assortment of foodstuffs are available for sale, while there are also facilities for foods served on site. There is a seasonal styling laboratory that is supervised by popular stylists, while the Annex building features a “Watch maison” with a unique assortment of products. This is a department store where an elegant shopping experience can be had as one pleases.
