Go to Kitasubaru Observatory in Nayoro to enjoy some of the best night skies in Japan. When the sky is clear, peer through a 50 cm reflecting telescope and a 1.6 m reflecting telescope, nicknamed Pirika, with the largest aperture of any telescope in Japan. At the adjoining planetarium, find out more about the night sky and outer space in a show that combines the stars with music. The observatory also holds monthly stargazing meetings to help people enjoy astronomical phenomena and celestial bodies at their most spectacular.
