Myoko Highland is a highland at altitude of 700 to 1,300 meters, which opens up the way to eastern foot of Mount Myoko that stands high in southwestern part of Niigata Prefecture. Onsen hot spring villages spread on the magnificent slopes of Myoko Highland, dotted by holiday houses and ski resorts.
Onsen hot spring quarter and a historical museum, as well as a blueberry farm where visitors can pick are all located near Myokokogen Station, which can also be used as the starting point for scheduled buses and tour buses that can be used to visit onsen hot springs and places of interest. Sasagamineho Dairy Farm, located 50 minutes away by bus from the station, comes highly recommended. This is a dairy farm with history going back to its founding in 1902, where visitors can enjoy trekking on trails while overlooking cows relaxing and chewing grass.

Visitors can enjoy a magnificent panoramic view that includes rows of mountains of Shiga and Nozawa, to Mt. Madarao and Nojiri Lake. Summit station of the cable car can serve as a convenient starting point for trekking the primeval forest of beech trees as well as climbing Mount Myoko. The pond there shows the "Inverted Myoko" which is an upside-down reflection of Mount Myoko. Clusters of skunk cabbage can be also observed in the Spring.
