Enjoy a stroll through time in the port area.

Nostalgic cuisine including baked curry and Hayashi rice.

This retro-style district was given the name "Mojiko Retro." Mojiko ("Moji Port"), which once flourished as an international trade port, allows you to enjoy a pleasant stroll between Meiji and Taisho (1868–1926) buildings. JR Mojiko Station, the transport hub for the area, was also built in 1914 in the Neo-Renaissance style, and is undergoing repair work until March 2019. You'll also find the old customs house, the former Osaka Shosen Mercantile Steamship Co. building, the former Moji Mitsui Club, and more, all within walking distance of the station.
Enjoy the elegant outer face and then step inside and step into the past, for example, at the restaurant in the former Moji Mitsui Club building, where you can enjoy creative dishes of fish and other seafood inside a restaurant with an ambience of days gone by, when this was the place for social gatherings. Hayashi rice and baked curry are the perfect fit for this nostalgic setting. In particular, baked curry is a dish made with the excess curry baked in an oven, and is popular with tourists who enjoy experiencing local specialties.
Enjoy the beautiful nighttime scenery in this gorgeous and nostalgic seaside town. The 31st floor of the high-rise apartment building, designed by the architect Kisho Kurokawa, has a Mojiko Retro Observation Room open to the general public, allowing you to enjoy the sights of the city and of Kanmon Strait from a café 103 meters above the ground. This is the perfect spot to wrap up a romantic stroll through the Mojiko area.
