MARUZEN INTEC ARENA OSAKA(Osaka Municipal Central Gymnasium) located in Yahatayakoen Park is a popular site of sports and entertainment in Osaka. The structure holds all facilities in basement first floor to basement third floor, including the main arena, sub-arena, Judo and Kendo hall, training rooms and the like. The restaurant serves lunch and dinner.
The main arena that accommodates 10,000 spectators is used to hold the Volleyball World Grand Championship Cup and International Figure Skating Competition NHK Trophy, as well as concerts of world-class artists such as Santana, Sting, Brian Adams, etc. It is not only a venue for sports competitions, but it is also a spectacular stage for various events.
The structure is a semi-underground gymnasium, which is quite rare in the world, with trees and lawn planted on the mound of soil with an average depth of 50 cm on top of the roof, which also features trails. The path leading to the viewing platform is lined with cherry trees and crimson foliage and other such pleasant joys of the seasons, while the viewing platform features a panoramic 360-degree view.
