Lake Tazawa

To take in all the seasonal beauty Lake Tazawa has to offer, visitors can enjoy a cruise across the lake itself or a roughly 20-kilometer drive or bicycle ride around the lake. Other sites around the lake include Gozanoishi-jinja Shrine; the fabled kagami-ishi, which is a stone said to have been used by the beautiful Tatsuko instead of a mirror; and Ukiki-jinja, the shrine of marriage. Overlooking the northeast corner of the lake is Tazawako Herb Garden Heart Herb, where visitors can enjoy hands-on classes for making aromatic cosmetics from herbs and essential oils, or enjoy a bite at the garden restaurant.
Those looking to enjoy a cruise across the lake can embark in front of the Tazawako Rest House. At the Tazawako Rest House, visitors can enjoy regional dishes such as kiritanpo, Inaniwa udon noodles, and rice bowls made with local Hinai-jidori chicken and egg. A variety of fast food establishments are also available. The Tazawako Rest House is also a good place to purchase local gourmet foods for souvenirs.
