This is the place to try massive tuna rice bowls!

The marketplace is constantly bustling with people buying all kinds of fresh fish and other ocean products

“Kashinoichi” is a market area that is always awash with people that come for delicious dishes made with fresh fish, such as the kaisen-don (seafood rice bowl) with ten delicious ingredients and the massive, almost overflowing, maguro-don (tuna rice bowl). It is located on the waterfront of Shimizu Port, and is visited by more than 1,000,000 people annually. Famous as the first place in Japan to offer direct sales by the intermediate wholesalers of the Shimizu Fish Market, a walk through this thriving marketplace grants you access to fresh fish and other ocean products carefully selected by top professionals at affordable prices.
The Market Hall is always bustling with lively merchants promoting their goods and selling fresh seafood, vegetables, fruit and more, and the Tuna Hall has plenty of tuna wholesalers and restaurants. Shimizu Port, in front of the market, is considered one of the three most beautiful ports in Japan for its breathtaking views of Mount Fuji and Miho-no-Matsubara. Roughly half of all the tuna consumed in Japan is caught in Shimizu, making it the Japanese port with the largest tuna landing. The marketplace, to which both tourists and locals throng, is supported by Shimizu Port.
