A Symbol of Kaga Hyakumangoku Castle Towns
Enjoy luxurious Japanese sweets and green tea in a glass-faced rest house.
The reconstruction was carried out by skilled carpenters specializing in shrine and temple buildings using ancient Japanese construction methods. Using absolutely no nails, the traditional wooden framework is a magnificent piece of architecture. Known as the “Museum of Stone Walls,” the castle features a wide variety of stone wall types. Visitors can also tour the inside of the fully connected Hishi Yagura, Gojukken Nagaya store-house, and Hashizume-mon Tsuzuki Yagura three-building complex (fees required). Looking out over the park from the small windows is a great way to catch a glimpse of life as it once was.
The glass-faced Tsuru-no-Maru Rest House inside Kanazawa Castle Park is the perfect place to take a break. Enjoy the panoramic view of the castle while indulging in Japanese sweets and tea from the cafe. On Fridays, Saturdays, and other specified days, the park is open into the evening so you can enjoy various illuminated areas throughout the park, including Gyokusen’inmaru Garden. Experience a unique Kanazawa atmosphere in this elegant display of light.
